ART for the AGES on display at Eloura

Quirindi Care Services, a proud member of the community and the wider Quirindi and Liverpool Plains Shire, held a Garden Party on 21st April as a way of re-engaging with the community following relaxing of the restrictions imposed by COVID-19.

A central part of the day was the inaugural art prize which featured over 100 pieces of artwork by the residents of Eloura.  A beautiful silver plate was donated by Mr Dennis Lee in recognition of talent, perseverance, patience, and effort.  Dennis is a Director on the Quirindi Care Services Board and has a keen interest in art, of any media.

The inaugural prize was won by Mr Jim Spradbrow who has been dabbling in many forms of art since coming to live at Eloura. The winning painting showed two emus in the moonlight, with shadows and light dancing off the canvas.

Dennis was very complimentary of Jim’s work and hoped to see him and the other residents continue to support the prize.  Dennis also extended his thanks to Wendy Davidson who kindly gave of her time to judge the prize.

The organising committee would also like to thank the following people and businesses who sponsored the day:

·        IGA Quirindi  - donated sausages and bread for the sausage sizzle

·        Lions Club Werris Creek –  ran the sausage sizzle

·        Eloura Auxiliary – provided tea / coffee / cakes and other goods to purchase

·        Peach Blossom – donated lucky door prizes
